Typically you are supposed to count from the first day you flow. Normally 14 days from that day ovulation occurs. The best thing to do is go to the doctor. Also if you are trying to concieve there are ovulation tests that you can buy at the drug store to help predict your most fertile time. Hope this helps. Normally people ovulate between their 10-14 day of their cycle. It can be different every cycle which day you ovulate. I ovulate on the 13th day of my cycle and sometimes on the 12th.

You should count from the first sign of any blood. The dryer brown stuff was the first sign. We had to do the Basil Body Chart to help keep track of ovulation, while we used Clomid to concieve and that is what our OB doctor told us to do.

I would say the day you noticed the brown discharge. You can also buy an ovulation test or kit which would help out a lot. If it were up to me, I'd buy an ovulation test and have sex on the day it says to, maybe even a couple days before AND after that date. Good luck!
