Hey Gabby, I think everyone who has ever been pregnant wonders about this! I am so glad that you feel comfortable to talk to us here on Standupgirl. During my first pregnancy I hardly had sex, I was not with the dad anymore and I only had a boyfriend for a short time period. With my second I found out I was pregnant and the dad left me and I decided I was done with sex until I was married. When I got pregnant with my third I was married (I made that commitment and stuck to it!) and I had sex during all 9 months. One thing that I did notice was different with my last pregnancy is that my cervix softened and dilated much earlier than my first two times, the doctor told me that semen can cause this. Sometimes I would get cramps or ligament pains as a result of having sex and towards the end we tried to start labor by having sex, didn't work. There are pros and cons to sex during pregnancy but you do need to be careful. If you are not in a monogamous committed relationship, preferably marriage, then it can be much more dangerous to have sex when pregnant. When you are pregnant you are sharing your body with your child and if you contract anything like an STD then your child can suffer majorly for it, certain STDs can cause blindness and other birth defects. Having sex can also cause pre term labor. Sometimes after having sex you can spot a little bit and it is really important to watch the amount and pay close attention to any contractions. Honestly if you are not married or feel that there is any possibility of contracting a disease then you would be best to remain abstinent. There is actually a girl on here who quit having sex at 3 months along and her daughter is now about 2 years old or so and her and her boyfriend have still not had sex, she said it has been really good for their relationship and they do not plan on having sex again until marriage!! I hope that you make the best decision for your circumstances and just know that we are all here for you...never be embarrassed to ask anything..Love Meg
